DIATEC HC is an extremely hard and wear-resistant DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating.
DEPOSITION METHOD
To obtain a DLC film, which we at Antec call DIATEC, objects undergo a vacuum plasma enhanced deposition process (PECVD but also PACVD, plasma assisted). During this process, a mixture of gases, including hydrocarbons, is ionized to extract carbon and deposit it onto the object.
The deposition temperature does not exceed 150°C, and in specific cases, it can be kept below 100°C.
Adhesion is ensured by creating an interlayer, also via PECVD, which allows a chemical bond between the DLC film and the metal substrate.
Properties of DIATEC HC coating
- EXTREME HARDNESS Thanks to its sp3 diamond-like bonds, DIATEC HC reaches hardness levels of up to 2500 Hv.
- SELF-LUBRICATING Similar to graphite, the DLC friction coefficient can reach as low as 0.05 under specific conditions. Since friction depends on multiple variables, achieving a low roughness is key. DIATEC HC further reduces friction, leading to less wear and prolonged part life.
- TECHNICAL BLACK COLOR DIATEC HC gives objects a sleek black appearance, making them visually appealing.
- THERMAL STABILITY DIATEC HC can be applied at temperatures below 150°C and withstands temperatures up to 350°C.
- CHEMICAL RESISTANCE PECVD technology ensures a homogeneous film, preventing oxidation and corrosion points. DIATEC HC is chemically inert, making it resistant to most acids and bases, ideal for use in aggressive environments.
- BIOCOMPATIBILITY & ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS DIATEC HC is biocompatible, non-cytotoxic, hypoallergenic, and completely inert, making it suitable for medical and food applications. The deposition process is clean and free of harmful emissions, and at ANTEC, it is powered by green energy, sourced from solar power and certified suppliers.
Not all DLC coatings are the same. The same treatment can be achieved using different technologies and processes, resulting in varying characteristics. The coated parts play a crucial role, and knowing how to position them in the chamber is the first step in achieving a high-quality result.
Once the parts are positioned, various parameters can be adjusted to create the most suitable DLC coating: the type and percentage of precursor gases, altering the stoichiometry; the deposition rate; the applied power and bias values; as well as vacuum levels and process temperature. These variations allow for different chemical and physical properties, enabling DIATEC to be optimally adapted to each specific application while always keeping costs in mind.
An efficient DLC treatment is not simply the application of a basic substance but the result of experience and expertise acquired over years of work. Antec Finiture S.r.l has been offering PECVD treatments since 1999. Our long-standing presence in the market is proof that we consistently provide the best solutions.

COATING Diamond Like Carbon - DIATEC HC: The Advantages
DIATEC HC is a plasma coating with exceptional properties, designed to meet customer needs.
It is the ultimate anti-friction, scratch-resistant, wear-resistant, and anti-abrasion coating, especially suitable for metals and alloys sensitive to high temperatures.
Here are the 7 key advantages of DIATEC HC:
- Extreme hardness (~2500 Hv).
- High resistance to scratches and abrasion.
- Low friction coefficient, thanks to self-lubricating properties.
- Minimal interference with surface roughness.
- Sleek black carbon finish, either glossy or matte, depending on the substrate.
- Fully biocompatible and non-toxic.
- Deposition temperatures can be controlled and reduced below 100°C.
DIATEC HC: Applications
DIATEC HC is widely used in multiple industries, thanks to its versatility and high performance:
- Automotive & Racing: (Fork stanchions, piston pins, and transmission gears benefit from reduced friction and wear resistance. Small moldings and details achieve a "carbon look".)
- Textile Industry: (Improves the performance of looms, combs, spools, and thread guides.)
- Food Industry: (FDA approved, facilitates plant cleaning and reduces downtime.)
- Hobbies & Leisure: (Knives, fishing hooks, scuba regulators – black finish, scratch and corrosion resistance.)
